NBA Player, Entrepreneur Junior Bridgeman Dies at 71

Junior Bridgeman, a former NBA player and successful entrepreneur, passed away at the age of 71 on March 11, 2025. He experienced a medical emergency during the 45th Annual Leadership Luncheon on Scouting in Louisville, where he reported chest pains and believed he was having a heart attack.

Bridgeman had a distinguished 12-year NBA career, primarily with the Milwaukee Bucks, where he averaged 13.6 points per game. After retiring from professional basketball, he built a substantial business empire, owning over 450 Wendy’s and Chili’s restaurants, becoming a Coca-Cola bottler, and acquiring Ebony and Jet magazines.

In September 2024, Bridgeman expanded his involvement with the Milwaukee Bucks by acquiring a 10% equity stake in the team, valued at $3.4 billion.

His contributions extended beyond business; he was known for his philanthropy and community involvement. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and former players have honored Bridgeman’s legacy, highlighting his mentorship and the example he set for athletes transitioning into business careers.

Bridgeman is survived by his wife, Doris, and their three children: Eden, Justin, and Ryan.
